‘What if Schools were different’
This is a journey from the beginning of schooling, showcasing schools that are thinking outside the box and prioritising, mental health and well-being above curriculum pressure. The idea is for mainstream and private schools to incorporate changes in schools to avoid neurodivergent pupils becoming overwhelmed and pressured in a busy mainstream setting, ultimately often leading to school refusal and isolation resulting in a decline in their mental health. The message being ‘change the environment not the child’, small changes make a huge difference it’s not all about funding and ECHP plans.
Working With Our Local Labour MP Liam Conlon
We will be working with Liam Conlon, our local Labour MP for Beckenham and Penge, to help promote and bring change in banning social media for under 16’s and other issues around Leo’s case.

Leo’s Story
The decline of Leo’s mental health began in primary school, and he was talking about ending his life by Year 6 in primary school.
By the end of year 10 as GCSE’s approached the impact of school and previous lockdowns really became evident. Year 11 he stopped going to school altogether and did not leave his bedroom.
Help for young People
So many autistic people and their families face struggles throughout their lives because of a lack of understanding and support.
The Autistica Tips Hub is helping to fill that gap by providing evidence-based resources and tips on topics that matter the most to autistic people.
